Ted Bundy
Ted Bundy in High School
|
Theodore Robert Cowell was born an illegitimate child in a Vermont home for unwed mothers on November 24, 1946. Growing up, he was told that his mother was his older sister, and that his grandparents were his parents. In 1951, his mother married Johnnie Bundy, and he became Ted Bundy. Within the family, he stayed isolated, and did well in school.
He attended the University of Washington, where he met Stephanie Brooks, his first love and the center of his motive for his crimes. Bundy was deeply in love with Brooks, but she did not reciprocate the same affection, and didn't think that he had much of a future, and therefore ended the relationship abruptly when she graduated. Bundy then took a break from school, which is when he found out about the arrangement that his mother had with his grandparents. He then returned to school delved into his studies as a psychology major. Ted found himself in a new relationship with Meg Anders, who was divorced with a daughter. Bundy met up with Stephanie Brooks in 1973, and she was impressed with his life transformation. Once their relationship was nearing marriage, Bundy broke it off as abruptly as Brooks had done to him years before. This is when Bundy’s rampage began. All of his targets were women who resembled Stephanie Brooks; they were young, attractive, with long, dark hair that was parted in the middle. |
